I am Kimberly, the main author of this blog and high school student, I made this blog so voices of the young in legal and political matters can be recognized and heard
When we talk about law and policy, the conversation often centers around seasoned experts, legislators, and legal scholars. But there’s a growing group we can no longer afford to ignore: young people.
In recent years, youth have been at the forefront of movements for climate justice, racial equity, digital rights, gun reform, and more.
Young people challenge the status quo. They question systems that have long gone unquestioned and bring bold ideas to the table. Their lived experiences—often shaped by rapid technological change, global uncertainty, and social justice movements—give them unique insight into the limitations and possibilities of the law.
It’s common to call youth “the leaders of tomorrow.” But many are already leading today. From organizing protests to drafting policy proposals, they’re influencing public discourse and driving change. Legal systems that fail to listen risk becoming outdated and disconnected.
Laws shape everyday lives. And the voices of young people, especially those from marginalized communities, are essential to building a legal system that’s more just, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
